CMSA CHARLOTTE WINS NATIONAL CMSA AWARD
Four of our coworkers attended the National CMSA Conference in Phoenix, Arizona this past June. Ame Fuss, Tim Blackwelder, Meg Levesque and Mary Lou Thompson did an excellent job of representing the local chapter as presiding officers. They also represented Carolinas Medical Center as Case Managers who are actively involved in their careers.
In addition to enjoying the sites and sounds of Phoenix for a week, the group presented a poster on Shared Governance at the Conference. The highlight of the week came as the team enthusiastically accepted The Innovation Award for 2008. This award was presented to the Charlotte Metro chapter in recognition of the challenges that were faced in the fall of 2008 as they hosted the State Conference in Charlotte last year. As the keynote speaker was preparing to go on stage, moments before the conference opened, she fell and sustained an injury to her leg. In addition to being sure that the speaker was being taken care of, the officers and members of the Charlotte Metro Chapter banded together and with some quick thinking and juggling of the schedule they were able to pull off a full and exciting conference that was informative and fun for all that attended.
More than ten chapters from across the country had applied for the award and winning was a tremendous honor for the group.
The Charlotte Metro Chapter of CMSA is now more than 175 members strong and is growing each year. They are extremely involved in the world of Case Management with a large representation of members from across the region. The educational opportunities and the monthly dinners offer a great chance to meet coworkers outside of the everyday work environment. For more information about joining contact Ame Fuss. Next year’s conference is in Orlando, Florida. What are your plans for the second week of June 2010?
